PRC's registered pre-apprenticeship track in the construction trades welcomed its inaugural cohort of 18 participants this month. All 18 are already earning while they learn.
PRC's registered pre-apprenticeship track in the construction trades formally launched this month, welcoming 18 participants drawn from our existing case management caseload. Every participant in the inaugural cohort is already placed with a licensed contractor partner and earning wages — making this the fastest employment-to-placement program PRC has ever run.
The curriculum covers OSHA 10 certification, foundational carpentry and framing, blueprint reading, and workplace safety. All 18 participants received a tools stipend of $350 at program entry, funded through a grant from the Arizona Community Foundation.
The apprenticeship track is a collaboration between PRC, three licensed general contractors in the Phoenix metro, and the Central Arizona Building Trades Council. Upon completing the pre-apprenticeship curriculum — approximately 18 weeks — participants are eligible to enter the registered apprenticeship pipeline with pathway to journeyman certification.
PRC will open applications for the second cohort in September 2026. Priority placement will be given to existing clients enrolled in case management or the Independent Living program. Contact a care navigator to express interest.
